Baby's Christening Day

A popular Australian baby blog has named baby Christening jewelry, namely, baby bracelets, baby bangles, baby necklaces, primarily, as being the Number One baby Christening gift.

This is not surprising.  Baby jewelry is permanent.  Once outgrown, it can easily be kept for the next generation.  Most baby jewelry is designed to be keepsake, though not all.  A Christening bracelet for example is easily stored and takes up little room and a generation later, needs only a buff up with a jewellery polishing cloth.

Baby jewelry also doesn't go out of style.  Even vintage pieces are as popular today.  So much so that re-runs of vintage styles are available now.

Christening bracelets, necklaces etc. often have a cross as a charm or pendant but these days, a teddy bear, a flower, an angel, or a heart can feature on Christening jewelry gifts.

Gift Ideas for her First Birthday

Apr 28, 2016 7:36:47 PM

9k gold adjustable, embossed baby bangle

Babies usually have everything they need for their first 2 years from the day they are born, so it is difficult to buy something she hasn't already received.  That's where baby jewelry comes in!  A pretty pair of baby earrings, if she has her ears pierced, or a tiny silver baby bracelet or shiny gold baby bangle, or perhaps a very cute anklet, is something her mother will enjoy just as much as baby, especially as she's growing up.  The little girl will enjoy the attention she gets wearing her jewellery, as will her mother.  The baby jewelry, when it's outgrown, can be put away in a safe place to be returned to her a generation later when she has her own baby.  A great deal of sentimental value is placed on baby's first jewellery, making it an excellent idea for a first birthday gift.

When most people think of a Christening gift, they think of "keepsake" first. Failing that, they move on to a regular type of baby gift, one that she can use for now but rarely keep or pass down to her own children.

There has been a surge in baby jewelry purchased as Christening gifts. The reason is quite obvious. Baby Jewelry is seen as very special, and often personal. God mothers in particular like to present their godchildren with a gift of jewellery that they can keep.

Top of the list are baby bracelets and baby bangles. Perhaps a baby necklace but with the proviso that these should only be worn with supervision. All look divine on a baby, and beautiful in her Christening photos.

We've just introduced a range of baby rings as well which might be a nice idea for a Christening.  Most of our rings are adjustable for growth.

Just as a suggestion, perhaps a children's jewelry box might be another nice idea, since children are given jewelry far more frequently these days and it's a great idea to have a safe place to store jewelry that isn't currently being worn.

Baby Cross Necklaces for Christenings

Jul 25, 2015 9:43:44 AM

sterling silver cross necklace for babies and toddlers

New additions to our range include baby crosses!  These baby necklaces are the perfect Christening gift and a lovely new idea for a baby Christening gift.  On 12" chains, they won't hang low enough to get caught on anything.  They will neatly fit to her throat.  We do recommend removal of baby jewelry when baby is put down to sleep.

When outgrown, these little crosses can be put onto a larger chain.  Currently we have 12", 13", 14", 15" and 16" sterling silver chains.  Or, they can be added to a little sterling silver children's bracelet.

Your gift will keep on giving for many years.

Old Favorites for Newborns

Gold Baby ID bracelet

The rise in popularity of baby jewelry as gifts for newborns has been phenomonal in the past decade.  In decades gone by, only the very lucky received a keepsake gift of an item of jewelry, and most often, that item was a baby brooch.  Baby brooches were generally pinned on baby's matinee jacket for special outings and special occasions.  Once babyhood had passed, the brooches were put away in a safe place, to be returned to the owner on the occason of the birth of his/her first baby.

Yes, boys have always been recipients of baby brooches, and still are, today.  But today brooches are less popular.  Baby bracelets are now the most popular item of jewellery for newborns but mainly for baby girls.  However, that is changing.  We get quite a few messages via our Contact Box asking which bracelets are most popoular for baby boys.

There are many styles of baby bracelet available but the traditional baby ID bracelet is still the most popular.  Sometimes they are "modernised" with the addition of a little charm or an etching on the side of the ID plate.  We think the opportunity to inscribe a gift for a newborn is popular because it then becomes a personalised gift.

In some cultures, little gold baby earrings are given as newborn gifts for girls because it's expected the baby will have her ears pierced early.

But at this time, bracelets are the most often purchased gifts of jewelry for babies.

The baby gift of gold jewelry

Apr 23, 2015 3:29:30 PM

People often use the Contact Is box asking for suggestions.  Mostly it's for a gift for a baby girl, though occasionally a baby boy, and usually it's for a newborn.  Christening gift suggestions are also sought.  We always ask if this is a gift they want the baby to cherish always, or are they just happy for a fun bracelet, to wear it until outgrown and forgotten.  Invariably, it's a keepsake baby gift they have in mind.

We always suggest gold.  A tiny gold baby bracelet is a superb gift for both a newborn, for her Christening or her first birthday.  Gold is definitely cherished.  Easy to pack away once outgrown and can be brought out for the next baby, or kept as her very own until she has a baby of her own.

What gift is easier to store, what gift keeps or increases its value, what gift is more treasured, than gold?  Currently we have beautiful gold baby ID bracelets with a small amount of etching and enameling, for example a teddy bear on the ID plate or a pink enameled heart on the ID plate.  Of course, engraving her name or date of birth on the ID plate makes it hers and hers alone.

Gold baby earrings are also well received, especially as Christening gifts or first birthday gifts.  Make sure they are petite, lightweight and preferably, screw backs.  Most pediatricians say wait till Baby is three months old before piercing but some ethnicities routinely pierce a newborn's ears, seemingly without problems.

A nice presentation box is a great idea for a baby gift.  Not only does it enhance the gift, but makes storage easy.  All the piece of gold will need, years down the track, is a buff up with a jeweler's polishing cloth and it will be as good as new!

Jewelry for Newborn Babies

9k gold baby bangle

When a new baby is born into the family we can't help but be excited, and wanting to welcome the newcomer and congratulate her parents is primary in our minds.

Jewelry for newborn babies is a special gift, one that can be treasured always, even passed on to the next generation.

Styles vary, but you may have in mind a keepsake item, something classic or traditional that will never go out of fashion. Or you might have something in mind that's quirky, colourful and cute!

Most of all, we want it to be comfortable for such a new baby, and be sure it will be safe.

Tiny pearl bracelets are lightweight and comfy and gleam beautifully on the perfect skin of a newborn. Shiny gold or silver baby bangles and baby bracelets, perhaps with some pastel enamelling, or with a cute duck, bee, ladybug, butterfly or dragonfly, is what you have in mind. Baby ID bracelets are timeless and the ID plate gives you the opportunity to inscribe her name, her nick-name or her date of birth, to personalise your gift.

Keep in mind that newborn babies grow very quickly so getting a bracelet with an extension for growth of an expanding bangle is important. Perhaps a bracelet with stretch, is another great idea.

Her first jewelry is special and your gift will be cherished.

Gifts for Newborns

Sep 27, 2014 6:02:36 PM

In the excitement of her birth, you will want to give her something special to show her and her proud mother how overjoyed you are about the arrival of her new baby girl. It will need to be something so special her mother will want to keep it forever. It will be something that doesn't date, and is easy to keep in good condition and takes up very little space as it is stored for the next generation. A baby bracelet, a baby brooch or a baby anklet would fulfill all these criteria. Look for a tiny silver or gold baby bracelet or other baby jewelry in a precious metal online, where you'll find the widest range and best prices.

Necklaces for Babies

Sep 1, 2014 3:15:43 PM

When babies are born they appear in many, many photos, possibly hundreds or thousands. Because in this age of phones which are little portable computers and cameras as well as having an array of other functions, people take photos of baby's every moment. For every day wear, and to look her best in her photos, or for special occasions like Christenings, the gift of a little sterling silver baby necklace, or perhaps one of gold, is a great idea. Are necklaces for babies safe? All baby jewellery should be worn under supervision with the possible exception of plain bangles. A baby necklace needs to fit perfectly, so that it doesn't gape (and therefore won't catch on anything) nor be too tight and uncomfortable. She will be blissfully unaware of it if she receives it as a newborn gift, it will simply be part of her. I often wish this blog enabled photos because I have some delightful photos of babies wearing necklaces, for everyday wear as well as family events, her Christening or her first birthday.
